I’ve started a Tips page, which you can find on the top bar of this site. If there’s anything you want me to add let me know. There will be some more stuff going up onto it later on tonight.
I’m going to be meeting up with my friend Anthony this week to do a pilot show for the security oriented “podcast” I want to fool around with. We’re still trying to nail down a format that will be unique enough for me to be satisfied, as well as the length, but I think that will all come together soon. He has some hosting for the site I want to put together for it, but there are some issues to iron out with that before we can go public with the site/show. Regardless of whether or not that gets figured out there will be a site/forums to go along with the show when we launch it.
This past weekend I did the visiting Christine routine up in MD. We did the 105 degree variant of Yoga on Friday, and that was sure something. 90 minutes of sweating, stretching, and slurping down water so you don’t pass out. I probably wasn’t the best candidate for it because I am a bit out of shape, but I did feel pretty damn good afterwards. The teacher could’ve been a little nicer, as we had a totalitarian dominatrix it felt like. You can find a yoga mat/towel for under 40 bucks combined in most places. It was $8 per person for the actual session where we went. A gym membership is still a better deal for general workouts.
While I was up there we went to the Orioles vs Yankees game on Saturday, where Baltimore triumphed 6-0. There was nearly a fight in front of us where about 25-30 people got ejected from the game after at least 5 cops showed up. It would’ve been 5 vs 20ish though, which would not have been very pretty. I guess it’s quite a rivalry, although I wouldn’t know as I don’t really follow baseball.
If there’s filming this coming weekend for Hak5 3×10 I will most likely be doing some more reverse engineering type stuff. I’m going to see if I can’t get what I have in mind working.
I’ve added a digsby widget to the right side of the site where you can IM me if I happen to be in front of my desktop. I ran the app after a 2 week hiatus and it pretty much rocks.
The upgrade to WordPress 2.5 went very smoothly, all I did was backup my database and files, deactivate all the plugins except my InstantUpgrade plugin, and then ran that. After enabling the same plugins I was running before, everything was fine. Easily the most hassle-free upgrade I have ever done on any platform.
I disabled the Twitter Tools updates, I thought there was a weekly digest option but there wasn’t, and it was spamming the Hak5 feed.
We filmed segments for Hak5 3×09 yesterday, and it was a lot of fun. I stood in for Darren’s segment, Matt stood in for mine. Christine and I both did short tips and then we headed back home. It was definitely weird being up there for the first time since December. Hopefully we get another live show going soon.
Today I will be fixing up my garden to look nice, which is a project inspired by Christine. I’ll put up pictures later.
I recently purchased a set of JBL On Tour Portable speakers for my Ipod on amazon, and I tell ya.. for 30 40 (oh well eh!) bucks it doesn’t get better. The sound coming out of them is freakin amazing for how small it is. Definitely have some party sound for the house now.
My tonsil recovery is pretty close to complete. I will probably still have a little soreness for a few weeks, but otherwise I feel great and can eat almost anything. I may even try a mixed drink or two this weekend. We’ll see how that goes. As unfortunate as my two trips to the hospital were for rare bleeding, I am happy I had the procedure done.
Along with the speakers, I ordered the book that goes with the game Mass Effect, which I recently finished for the Xbox 360. Outstanding game minus the technical issues. The book is called Mass Effect: Revelations and is written by Drew Karpyshyn, the lead writer for the game. I’ve heard a lot about this book and will be starting it soon. Expect a short review of it in the next few weeks.

I’ve been VERY busy, between stuff with Hak5, work, personal life, and playing some games here and there.
First and foremost, I will be getting rid of this blog as it is right now, and putting a new site design online, to better represent myself in a professional manner.
Along with things I do with the Hak5 crew, I am undertaking a new project based upon some work I did this past week. Essentially I want to build my own CentOS 5 kernel to include EFI support for Apple Xserves.
Beyond that, I’m out for now.
It’s been awhile since I have had time to login and post on here. Hak.5 Live is in full swing and so far I have been on every show. The most recent one was tonight, and consisted of Darren and Wess deathmatching it up in UT99. Matt Lestock and I provided the commentary and Jester from the IRC was here holding the mobile camera.
My desktop has been having some issues, and I need to put in the new northbridge cooler that I purchased. I’ll have a review up as soon as I get everything working again. There is some thought into perhaps building a quad-core based desktop.
Peace.
I started working Mon-Fri the week before this one and it’s been pretty much what I expected so far. Lots of challenges, lots of opportunity, and I am very much enjoying it, despite the heavy workload. I am getting a lot of experience with policy oriented work, lots of paperwork and understanding of the higher level functions that drive how a business is run. The fun stuff should start soon enough.
Tomorrow evening will mark RC3 of Hak.5 Live, and hopefully this is the last “RC” episode. I think most of the kinks have been worked out, so this one should be even better than the last show’s improvements over the “trainwreck”.
I tried to sit down and write a couple of times during the week, but I was just too busy.
The Enterprise Fiasco from Hell
The family came down and spent 5 days with me, which was a blast for the most part. We had a horror story worthy of an entirely separate posting, but I will summarize it a bit here: Read more »
