Network Neutrality

Ars Technica has an article with some updates on the network neutrality issue that has been terrorizing us as of late.  It mainly has to do with the rumblings caused by the measure not being enacted by Congress last Thursday.

The problem I see with this is the massive amount of taxpayer money that has gone into the infrastructure in this country, with little to show for it.  If the ISPs are able to implement some of the things they have been talking about lately, like not slowing down your connection to popular websites if you pay more, I believe they are essentially destroying the platform upon which most of them started on to begin with.

I liken it to making it illegal to do a certain thing after someone else has already profited off of it.  This is a power move to solidify existing companies’ stranglehold on the modern technological age.

I think we’re looking at some pretty interesting times here, which could launch the largest digital war ever.
